Leah & Nathan – Louisville, Kentucky

From the bride:

What was the setting?

Rose Garden and classic three-story Beaux-Arts Home located on the property of a Presbyterian Theological Seminary nestled in the heart of St. Matthews, Kentucky.

Throw in a few adjectives!

Mid-Summers Night wedding, Boho, French Country, DIY, Vintage, Light, Airy, Pastels, Historic Estate, Classic elegance

What was the inspiration? (movie, book, art style, historical period, etc.)

“Our inspiration was the venue itself (historic estate built in the 1900’s with a beautiful rose garden complete with a wisteria back drop). We tried to let the beauty of the old home and garden shine through without adding too much fuss or frill that would draw away from the natural beauty, essence, and immaculate detail of this historic landmark. We were fortunate enough to have a beautiful Summer night for our evening ceremony – it could not have been more perfect!”

“Our day was created with an emphasis on the importance of family. Nathan and I are the proud parents of two beautiful 21 month old boys (yes, twins!) so our day was not only about Nathan and I joining together but the larger union of our little family we have built. Our boys were of course involved in the proposal as well. Nathan got down on one knee last year on Labor Day Weekend at his parents lake house an hour outside the city and popped the question by dressing our then infants in onesies that read ‘Mommy will you’ ‘Marry Daddy?’. He invited my family to come in who celebrated the remainder of the holiday weekend with us.” (See included snapshot)

“Once the planning began we knew immediately we wanted an outdoor venue, where the space would speak for itself. I grew up Presbyterian, so the theological tie to the Seminary was also very special for me. Both the rose garden where the ceremony took place as well as the Historic Home, Gardencourt, where we held our cocktail hour, dinner and dancing holds rich ties within the community of St. Matthews. On our wedding day we were blessed with a beautiful evening, roses in full bloom and even a slight breeze – very rare for Kentucky in the middle of Summer!”
